A place known for it’s nightlife! I recently visited Sanctum on a Wednesday being a “Ladies night”; for a Bloggers meet with some lovely foodie friends.
It is located in the same building as that of Chancery pavilion hotel, Residency Road. Most people could end up at the entrance of this hotel’s instead of the actual restaurant. So be vigilant.
Meaning of Sanctum – a private place or room where someone is never interrupted. You can come to enjoy here all by yourself or ironically to have a great time with a bunch of friends and with ladies, especially if it is Wednesday!
It has been nominated for Times Food Awards 2017, impressive!
The place is quite nice with some dim lights, with a stacked up bar and DJ playing some music at the background.
Two sections of seating – normal dining area and the one with couches for a relaxed and casual experience.
I need to say this, their washrooms are pretty good and have modern setup too;).
I was here for the dinner buffet which is priced at around 800 bucks with a drink. @Baba Chandok the energetic owner was open to feedback or areas of improvement which was great to hear. Here’s my view about my experience with the food:
I had the tomato soup which was alright.
We were served with a list of starters for both vegetarians and non vegetarians:
Diced chicken in lemon grass
Paneer tikka lababdar
Murgh malai tikka
Green peas tikki
Baby corn Manchurian
The items were nice, best being the pizza, murgh malai tikka and baby corn manchurian.
There were list of items. Below were the ones I liked the most.
Chicken biryani – very tasty with flavorful meat and one of the best dishes of the night.
Mutton masala – was nice too but a little sweet because of too many tomatoes. Went well with rotis.
Kadhai chicken and dal makhani – quite nice and went well with rotis again.
Mixed vegetables in hot garlic sauce – this was okay.
I had the virgin pina colada, nice but missed the sharpness. Also had a strawberry mocktail which was nice.
Malpua – this had turned out a soggy and was a little too sweet. This can be made better.
Fruit cake – was okay.
Chocolate mousse – pretty good with combo of dark and white chocolate base and topping.
I believe, the menu can be improved with more variety as there are many restaurants which have elaborate spread at lesser price. Some more tasty dishes will be an icing on the cake. Especially, the desserts. Its ladies night, and ladies (and men) love sweets whether they admit or not. So, the more variety, the more delicious food…the merrier!
As it was quite late, I had to leave and missed out on the fun bits of ladies night. I have heard it is pretty good though, so check it out for yourself.
