Big Brewsky is a Brewery and Club and has been in the news since it opened at Sarjapur Road. Like many other places, this was also on my wishlist and I happily obliged an invite to try their new menu curated by well known Foodpreneur, Chef Sabyasachi Gorai or also called Chef Saby! I was also excited as this meetup had many eminent food bloggers, photographers and many other well known people of F&B industry in Bengaluru.
It is one of the highlights of the place. I had no clue that the place was so huge!! A big pool at the centre with lots of lovely and colorful fishes. An open air space throughout with many sections to seat hundreds of people to drink, dine and party away. It was almost fully occupied at the ground floor by 4:00 pm already. There are 2 more floors above and a separate small party place in the ground floor with lots of greenery and small trees under the sky. Who could have imagined that a brewery or a club could also be this beautiful and sophisticated!
Apt place for parties, get together with office colleagues, friends and family..yes, all masses.
About the event and live cooking session with Chef Saby:
The young Chef was a warm, welcomed us and managed to briefly have a tete-a-tete with a few of us and stressed on the importance of keeping the food simple is the best way and would still bring out the best taste in food. He was pretty excited about his revamped menu and more so that he was about to cook a couple of dishes live, in front of us and make us taste straight from the temporary kitchen that was set up for the cook off event.
New menu and a few items that we witnessed being cooked and tasted:
African suya paneer kebab: It has a unique mix of spices with prominent taste of crushed peanuts.
African suya chicken kebab: Same as paneer but a better dish as the chicken had some good flavors.
Apple and tomato sundried salad: This salad with feta cheese and pine nuts was delicious. Tasty and healthy and a must try.
Mushroom shoe (choux) roll: This was alright, I would have loved more mushrooms or their flavor to be prominent.
Black rice risotto: A simple risotto with not much of cheese or other overloaded stuff. Very tasty indeed although the look wasn’t appealing enough.
Italian arrabbiata pasta: Another very simple pasta with very basic ingredients. The basil flavor was very good.
Churro with chocolate sauce as dessert: This wasn’t good and the least favorite of all. This isn’t really in the menu so I am assuming this was cooked impromptu just for the guests.
That brought the end to the food tasting session but not the party scene!
What an event it was! There was fun, frolic, music and live performances by talented singers. As the day ended and the night had just begun, the turned out to look more beautiful, especially the pool. The drinks counter only made people happy as the mixologists keep creating cocktails and mocktails and helped us sway away.
It is a must visit place and one should visit a least once to witness the sheer beauty and great ambiance this place has to offer. Coming to the food, we only tried a handful of dishes from the very vast new menu so cannot gauge how the overall food is. But this place is not just for food and so still scores high. But yes, I wish we had got to taste some more stuff from the revamped menu but what we tasted was pretty nice as highlighted above.
